West·ing·house (wĕsʹtĭng-hous'), George. 1846-1914.
American engineer and manufacturer who received more than 400 patents for his many inventions, including the air brake (1869), an automatic railroad signaling device (1882), and a practical method for transmitting electric power. He founded the Westinghouse Electric Company in 1886.
