a politician or journalist in the US who supports the idea that the US is the main world power and should promote American values around the world, using force if necessary. Neoconservatives supported George W Bush‘s War on Terror and the Iraq War and they often show support for Israel. They put less emphasis on social issues than traditional conservatives.
