/kahn"tee, khahn"-/, n., pl. Khanties, (esp. collectively) Khanty for 1.
1. a member of a Uralic people now living in scattered settlements along the river Ob and its tributaries in Siberia, and known from historical records to have lived in northern European Russia.
2. the Ugric language of the Khanty, consisting of a number of highly divergent dialects. Also called Ostyak.
