Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s
a large group of British supermarkets. The first Sainsbury’s was a small shop in London, opened in 1869 by John James Sainsbury (1844–1928) and Mary Ann Sainsbury (1849–1927). The company developed steadily and opened its first supermarket in Southampton in 1954. Since then many more have opened all over England. The Sainsbury family are now also known for supporting the arts and charities in Britain and the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts near Norwich has an important collection of art given by the family:

I always buy my food at Sainsbury’s.

Have you got a Sainsbury’s near you?
