private patient

private patient
n
(in the British health system) a patient who pays for medical care rather than receiving it free from the National Health Service. People choose to do this because they believe they will receive better care and will not have to wait. Some private patients make regular insurance payments to companies such as BUPA, which then provide care when the patient needs it.
