L L Bean
any of a group of US shops selling a large range of equipment for outdoor activities, including boots, jackets, hats, tents, tools and fishing equipment. The company is known for its catalogues (= books sent to people’s homes showing items they can order by post). It was established in 1912 by Leon Leonwood Bean in Freeport, Maine, where the main office still is.
