Christ’s Hospital

Christ’s Hospital
an English independent school for boys and girls, started by King Edward VI in 1533 to help poor children in London. Later it split into two schools, one for boys and one for girls, but since 1985 it has been a single school for both again, in Horsham, Sussex. Christ’s Hospital is sometimes called ‘the Blue-Coat School’, because of the traditional long blue coats sometimes worn by the boys as part of their uniform.
