Anderson shelter

Anderson shelter
n
a small hut made of metal that British people put up in their gardens during World War II. The huts were used for shelter when bombs were dropped on their homes by the Germans, during the Blitz. They were named after the Home Secretary in 1939–40, Sir John Anderson.
