Derivatives include fang, peace, pact, palisade, and travel.
1. Lengthened-grade form *pāk-. fay1, from Old English fēgan, to fit closely, from Germanic *fōgjan, to join, fit.
2. Nasalized form *pa-n-g-, also *pa-n-k-.
