I. Saint John1 (sānt)
An island of the U.S. Virgin Islands in the West Indies east of Puerto Rico. Discovered by Columbus in 1493, it passed to various European powers before Denmark sold it to the United States in 1917.
  II. Saint John2 (sānt)
A city of southern New Brunswick, Canada, at the mouth of the St. John River on the Bay of Fundy. First settled as a French trading post in the 1630s, it was captured by the British in 1758 and was a refuge for Loyalists after the American Revolution. Population: 129,376.
