Qan·da·har or Kan·da·har (kŭn'də-härʹ, kän'-)
A city of southeast Afghanistan near the Pakistan border southwest of Kabul. Perhaps founded by Alexander the Great in the fourth century B.C., the city has long been important for its strategic location on the trade routes of central Asia. Population: 225,500.
