Royal Botanic Garden

      botanical garden in Edinburgh, internationally famous for its beautiful landscaping. The garden, of 62 acres (25 hectares), includes 35,000 kinds of plants and features special collections of rhododendrons, representatives of the heath family, and many Asiatic genera. The herbarium holds about 1.75 million dried specimens. The garden, founded in 1670, is operated by the government.
