Ohrid, Lake

lake, Albania-Macedonia
      lake on the Macedonia-Albania border, southeastern Europe. It has an area of 134 square miles (347 square km). At 938 feet (286 m), it is the deepest lake in the Balkans. It is connected by underground channels to Lake Prespa to the southeast. Lake Ohrid is known for its beauty and its fishing, and there are several beaches. Interesting historic buildings are found in the towns that lie along its shores.
