Kings County

Kings County

      county in southeastern New York, U.S., that is coextensive with the Borough of Brooklyn (q.v.), New York City. It was formed in 1683, has an area of 71 square miles (184 square km), and was named to honour King Charles II of England. Pop. (1994 est.) 2,271,000.
