Kemi River

Kemi River

      river in northern Finland. The country's longest river, it rises near the Russian border and flows generally southwest for about 300 mi (483 km) to the Gulf of Bothnia (Bothnia, Gulf of) at Kemi town. The river system is harnessed for hydroelectric power and is important for salmon fishing and for transporting logs.
