      American singer (b. July 13, 1966, Philadelphia, Pa.—d. Nov. 10, 2006, Cleveland, Ohio), was a powerful and soulful vocalist whose string of R&B hits included “I Swear,” “I'd Give Anything,” and “Baby Hold on to Me,” a duet with his father, Eddie Levert, Sr., a member of the O'Jays singing group. Levert scored hits in the 1980s with the trio LeVert, which comprised his brother Sean and friend Marc Gordon; their songs “(Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop) Goes My Mind,” “Just Coolin',” and “Casanova” climbed the charts. Levert went solo in 1991 with the album Private Line, but in 1997 he formed LSG, which had a self-titled debut album that sold two million copies. Levert's solo career soared with the albums Love and Consequences (1998), The G Spot (2002), and Voices (2005), his last. Father & Son, a 1995 album of ballads recorded with his father, was warmly received. Levert died of a heart attack.
