Zambia
      town, western Zambia, East Africa. Site of the Lozi royal village, it lies in the geographical centre and in the most populated area of the province at the edge of the Zambezi River floodplain. A main road east connects it to Lusaka, the capital (385 miles [620 km] east). The town also has an airfield. A thermal power station at Mongu supplies electricity to the area. Pop. (2000) urban area, 44,310.
