Punch and Judy

Punch and Judy
the name of a traditional British puppet play, also called a Punch and Judy show. Punch (also called Mr Punch) is a character with a long curved nose and a big chin who argues with his wife Judy and the other characters (including the policeman and the doctor), shouting in a high voice and hitting them with his stick. He also has a dog called Toby. The characters are glove puppets (= small figures worn over the hand and moved by the fingers) and the show is presented in a special tent, often at the seaside or at parties for children.
