Financial Times Indices

Financial Times Indices
n [pl]
different lists of share prices on the London Stock Exchange that are published every day in The Financial Times. They are used to show general trends in the British financial markets. The oldest of these is the Financial Times Ordinary Share Index, or FT Index, a list of the average prices of 30 industrial shares. The best known is the FT-SE 100-Share Index, which gives the share values of the 100 largest British companies. The newspaper also publishes the FT-Actuaries All-Share Index, based on a wider range of share prices and giving the values of the top 250 and the top 350 shares in Britain.
