Barbados gooseberry n. In both senses also called blade apple.

1. A tropical American cactus (Pereskia aculeata) with climbing or trailing spiny stems, broad leaves, and clusters of fragrant whitish, pale yellow, or pinkish flowers.

2. The small, globular, yellow edible fruit of this plant, used to make jellies and preserves.
