richterite

richterite

also called  soda tremolite

amphibole mineral, a sodium silicate of calcium and magnesium or manganese. It occurs in thermally metamorphosed limestones and skarns or as a hydrothermal product in alkaline igneous rocks. Richterite is related to tremolite by the substitution of sodium for calcium in richterite's chemical composition. For chemical formula and detailed physical properties, see amphibole (table).
