insect
also called  false tiger beetle , or  false blister beetle,

any of approximately 1,500 species of beetles (insect order Coleoptera) that are slender and soft bodied, and are usually pale with blue, yellow, orange, or red markings.

They range from 5 to 20 mm (up to 4/5 inch) in length and have long antennae. The adults are usually found on foliage or around flowers, whereas the larvae inhabit decaying wood, especially driftwood on beaches or riverbanks.
