Meconopsis

Meconopsis

▪ plant genus
genus of about 45 species of herbaceous perennial plants of the poppy family (Papaveraceae) native to south-central Asia, several of which are grown for their poppylike flowers. Although there are several flower colours, the best known are the blue poppies, which are highly prized ornamentals for their striking hues. The only European representative is the yellow-flowered Welsh poppy (M. cambrica).
