won a Tony Award in 1962 for his portrayal of Bud Frump in the Broadway production of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (1961) and later garnered critical acclaim as a director when he was nominated in 1997 for a Tony for his direction of a revival of The Gin Game, starring Julie Harris, but he was best remembered for his comic double entendres while appearing as a fixture on the television game shows Match Game and Hollywood Squares. Reilly, one of the first openly gay personalities on TV, was also a frequent guest on The Tonight Show, starring Johnny Carson.
