Virginia Clara Jones 
      American actress (b. Nov. 30, 1920, St. Louis, Mo.—d. Jan. 17, 2005, Thousand Oaks, Calif.), appeared in more than 40 movies, many of them comedies and adventure films, but was most memorable for her dramatic portrayals of an unfaithful wife of a World War II veteran in The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) and of James Cagney's gun-moll wife in White Heat (1949). She later appeared with touring productions of stage plays and in television series.
