      American personality (b. Sept. 13, 1918, Brookline, Mass.—d. Jan. 7, 2005, Jefferson, Wis.), was the mentally challenged sister of Pres. John F. Kennedy who at age 23 was given a prefrontal lobotomy, a procedure that left her in an infantlike state and needing institutional care for most of the rest of her life. Her younger sister, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, founded the Special Olympics in her honour.
